For inveterate travelers, we have not seen deals on hotels, airfare, etc. like those out there in the marketplace today in quite some time. Funny thing was, when we all had the money to travel, the cost of travel was at an all-time high. Now that many people don't have the discretionary income available to travel as much  -- or even at all -- the deals are unbelievably great.

I wrote a press release for a client today that promoted round-trip airfare to Ireland and six nights at a Ritz-Carlton hotel for $699 per person! It's almost too good to pass up! And a cruise on Windstar Cruises that I took last December and spent $2,000 on, is now being advertised at $1,599 for the same exact itinerary a year later!

I read a news brief online yesterday that the head of Marriott Hotels & Resorts is reporting that he is starting to see a comeback with regard to travel. With such great deals out there, I don't think people can resist traveling! Perhaps if consumers are due a tax refund this year, they may decide that they can actually afford a vacation in 2009 after all. The deals are simply too good to resist!
